This recipe is a chocolate lovers dream and for those who would love to eat chia but don’t like the tapioca-like texture. It is a healthier, dairy-free version of chocolate mousse that every chocolate addict will love.
If you’ve downloaded and read my free e-Book Sweet Medicine, then you’ll know I am a big proponent of refined sugar-free desserts. This recipe along with the 5 other recipes I share in the book is naturally sweetened, delicious and perfect for any sweet tooth. Now let’s get into it.

Strawberry Yoghurt Chocolate Mousse Ingredients
Thankfully, this is a no-fuss dessert recipe that requires just a blender. With a few staple pantry/refrigerator ingredients, you’ll be whipping up this recipe in no time at all. Here’s what you need:
For The Chocolate Mousse Layer
- Chia seeds
- Dairy-free milk: I used coconut milk. Cashew milk will also work well with this recipe.
- Cocoa powder
- Coconut sugar or date sugar
- Vanilla extract
For The Strawberry Yoghurt Layer
- Greek yoghurt
- Fresh or frozen strawberries
- Beetroot powder: This is optional but it helps with the vibrant red colour.
- Honey or maple syrup
- Vanilla extract
The toppings are completely optional, but adding them just adds to the fun. Here are my suggestions to add more yumminess to this dessert.
- Fresh strawberries
- Fresh blueberries
- Nuts: coconut flakes, sliced almonds and chopped cashews are great options to add a contrasting crunch.
How To Make Strawberry Yoghurt Chocolate Mousse
The first step is to make the strawberry yogurt layer because it will need to be chilled well before adding the chocolate mousse layer.
- Add all the strawberry yoghurt ingredients into a blender and blend till it’s smooth and creamy. Pour the yoghurt into your serving glasses and leave to set in the freezer for 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, blend all the chocolate mousse layer ingredients in the cleaned blender till it’s smooth and creamy. As soon as the blending is done, you’ll see it immediately thickens. That’s thanks to the chia seeds.
- After 20 minutes, the yoghurt layer will have firmed up a bit. Top it with the thicken chia mousse and add your toppings of choice. Set in the fridge for a few minutes to chill and enjoy.
Meal prepping tips
This recipe is perfect for meal prepping. It will last for 4-5 days in the fridge and in the freezer for longer. Use these airtight storage jars. Whenever you get a chocolate craving, just thaw and enjoy!
