This Strawberry Jam is delicious, vibrant, and perfect on top of toast, pancakes, crepes, and it is also great for flavoring drinks and oatmeal. This jam recipe can also be converted into a Strawberry sauce. It’s really easy to make, so let’s jump right into it.

Whenever strawberries are in season, I love to make a batch of homemade strawberry jam. Right now in Jos, these gorgeous, vibrant red strawberries are in season, so, I ordered a batch over the holidays.
The locally grown strawberries are much sweeter and have a more vibrant red colour than the imported strawberries. These are the types I love to eat as a snack and use for my strawberry ice tea recipe.
Today, I am going to be sharing with you this easy and flavorful strawberry jam you can enjoy on top of toast, like this Cinnamon French Toast, pancakes, and even served on top of oatmeal. Let’s get right into it.
Strawberry Jam Video
Even though this jam is easy to make, watching a how-to video always seems to help. In this vlog, I share a detailed video on how to make this strawberry jam along with my strawberry ice tea recipe and my French Brioche recipe that goes perfectly with the Strawberry jam. Strawberry Jam Ingredients
This jam recipe uses only these three ingredients:
- Fresh/Frozen strawberries: I used the locally grown strawberries from Jos.
- Sugar: This recipe contains a fair amount of white sugar.
- Lemon Juice: I used freshly squeezed lemon juice.
How to make strawberry jam
My jam recipe uses the 2:1 ratio of strawberries and sugar.
- Wash the strawberries under runny water and drain them well.
- Remove the green part of the strawberries and place them into a clean, stainless steel pot.
- Add in the sugar and lemon juice, stir well and cover the pot.
- Leave the strawberries to macerate for 10mins.
- After 10 minutes, you’ll see that the strawberries have released some of it’s liquid, and the sugar has dissolved.
- Place the pot over medium heat and simmer the berries until it starts to boil. Maintain the heat and remove the foam that forms on top of the berries. Removing the foam allows for a clean and clear strawberry Jam.
- Cook the berries for 20 minutes. You can use a potato masher or a fork to mash the berries. I love to have my jam in chunks, so I didn’t mash mine.
- After 20 minutes, remove from the heat and transfer to a sterilized, airtight jar. Leave to cool completely and store in the fridge.

*Update
You can turn your strawberry jam into a sauce, simply by blending the cooked strawberries, instead of mashing the berries. Top your waffles & ice cream, cake slices or parfaits with this delicious strawberry sauce. Enjoy.
